West Haven Kayaker in Distress

04/24/16 West Haven, CT - A kayaker fishing in the West Haven boat launch area of April Street had to be rescued after his kayak capsized sending him into the cold water. Firefighters from West Shore section of West Haven responded with their marine unit. The fisherman was rescued by a nearby kayaker who helped him into shore. The man in distress was wearing his flotation device at the time of the incident. Witnesses on scene said the man was in the water for about fifteen minutes. He refused medical attention.
