Milford Three Alarm Taxpayer
08/02/11 Milford, CT - Milford firefighters battled a three alarm taxpayer fire located at 749 Boston Post Rd. The fire was reported shortly before eight p.m. by employees of Sullivan's Salon who smelled smoke while they were locking up for the night. Firefighters arrived quickly and went to work on an interior attack. The fire spread rapidly across the cockloft, causing an extremely heavy smoke condition throughout the five stores in the complex. The decision was made to pull all firefighters out and regroup for an extensive defensive operation. Multiple master streams, were placed into operation as the fire intensified. The fire eventually vented the roof and out the rear of the taxpayer. The blaze took about two and a half hours to bring under control. All of the City of Milford apparatus responded as well as mutual aid from Stratford and West Haven. The fire appears to have started in the rear of Tobacco Junction, however the cause has not been determined. No one was hurt in the blaze and the Milford fire marshal is still investigating.
