Milford, CT 3rd alarm condo fire 267 Melba St

01/08/17 Milford, CT - Firefighters arrived to find and advanced fire condition showing from the second floor of a three story, wood frame condo unit. The fire quickly auto exposed to the third floor unit as firefighters were getting lines in place. Multiple hand lines had to be quickly stretched and coordinated with truck work to stop the spread of the fire. Additional alarms were transmitted bringing all of the city's resources and mutual aid in from West Haven and Stratford Fire department. Firefighters not only battled the blaze , but also temperatures in the single digits. The fire was brought under control in an hour through an all interior attack. Six residents were displaced and two dogs were killed in the fire. The cause is being investigated.
