East Haven multi alarm fire 75 Redwood Dr. condo fire

01/24/21 East Haven, CT - The East Haven fire department was alerted to a structure fire with multiple calls mid afternoon Sunday. First arriving companies were met with heavy fire in the rear of a large condo complex on both floors. The heavy fire also caused a large woods fire, which abutted the complex. This in turn threatened other nearby homes. Firefighters pulled multiple two and a half handlines and went to work darkening down the fire. They then transitioned to an interior attack. Additional alarms were transmitted bringing companies from No. Branford, Branford and New Haven to the scene. The fire took about an hour to bring under control. Several people were left homeless by the blaze. One pet died in the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state fire marshal's office.
