New Haven Fire House fire Squad 1 & Engine 8

03/23/18 New Haven, CT - The station of Engine 8 and Squad Co. 1 was turned out for a box alarm a few blocks from the firehouse. While they were on scene investigating, a box was transmitted for their station. The east side battalion chief arrived and reported smoke showing from the station house. Companies stretched on the second floor kitchen, which was involved in fire. Three hand lines were stretched and operated as trucks provided vertical and horizontal ventilation for the heavy smoke condition. The companies have been relocated to other nearby fire stations until repairs can be made to the station. Ironically, this station has suffered from a prior fire in the 1970's.
