New Haven 322 Winthrop Ave

03/14/18 New Haven, CT - Firefighters arrived to find smoke showing from the rear of a two and a half story, wood frame, occupied. First due Engine 9 stretched on the dwelling and found fire on the 2nd floor. They extinguished the fire there, but the fire extended to the floor above. There was a delay in getting water to the top floor due to companies coming up short on the stretch. A second alarm was transmitted by orders of Deputy Chief Gould. The fire took about thirty minutes to bring under control. Four people were displaced and had to seek shelter through the Red Cross. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
