New Haven 2nd alarm 6 Rowe St

03/22/17 New Haven, CT - East side companies went to work battling the wind, cold and flames at 6 Rowe St. The east side battalion arrived to find heavy, wind driven fire venting from second floor porch. A 2nd alarm was transmitted immediately due to conditions present and the report of tenants still inside of the dwelling. Multiple hand lines were quickly stretched for an interior attack, as the truck performed the searches and provided topside ventilation. All occupants were accounted for as firefighters now had to contend with heavy fire extension into the third floor. Through the hard work and aggressiveness of the interior companies the fire was darkened down and brought under control in about forty five minutes. One civilian was transported from the scene with unknown injuries. Several families were displaced by the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
