New Haven 2nd alarm 25-27 Sheffield Ave

08/17/21 New Haven, CT - Engine 8 arrived reporting a well involved two and a half story. A second alarm was urgently transmitted by Engine 8 on arrival due to the number four exposure also being involved. Companies stretched multiple two and a half hand lines to darken down the fire and cover the exposure. Once the heavy volume of fire was darkened down, they transitioned to an interior operation. Trucks started opening up in both dwellings as well a performing topside ventilation. All searches proved negative as all occupants safely evacuated both dwellings. Companies had to go exterior to finish off the fire with a ladder pipe. The fire took about an hour and a half to bring under control. Two firefighters were sent to the hospital with unknown injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ironically, the 27 Sheffield St. was the exposure dwelling in a fire which took place a year and a half ago in March of 2020. The same scenario played out.
