2nd alarm New Haven 271-73 Alden Ave
03/23/06 New Haven, CT - A rapidly spreading fire broke out in a dwelling in the city's Westville section. First in Engine 15 reported heavy fire on the second floor rear of a two and half story, private dwelling. All hands went to work as the fire rapidly extended to the third floor and attic. A second alarm was transmitted on the arrival of the deputy chief. Multiple hand lines were stretched and operated and truck companies opened up to gain an upper hand on the fire. The fire vented through the roof before firefighters were able to darken it down. It took about an hour to bring the blaze under control. A total of five engines, two trucks and a paramedic unit operated.
