New Haven 15 Colby Ct. dwelling fire

02/03/19 New Haven, CT - Engine Co. 15 arrived to find heavy smoke showing from a private dwelling. All indications were that the fire started in the basement and ran the walls of house. The first due company went in without a hydrant due to the closest one being out of service. Four lines were stretched and operated while trucks opened up. Several holes were placed topside. The roof firefighters reported a plywood ceiling. This allowed for additional fire spread as companies had a hard time getting into the void spaces. The fire took about an hour and a half to bring under control. The cause is being investigated by the fire marshal's office. One firefighter was injured fighting the blaze.
