New Haven 1146-48 Quinnipiac Ave. dwelling fire

02/20/23 New Haven, CT - New Haven dispatchers received a telephone alarm, around nine a.m. this morning. Engine arrived with smoke showing from the first floor of a three story, private dwelling. Two lines were stretched and operated. Members of Engine 17 and Rescue 1 found an unconscious female in the rear room. She was removed to the rear where medics began medical aid. One dog was also removed, but perished in the fire. The fire was quickly knocked down with no extensions. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The female was conveyed to Yale New Haven Hospital in critical condition.
