New Haven Fourth Alarm Brass Monkey Bar 29 Center St

12/12/07 New Haven, CT - A major fire ripped through downtown New Haven, damaging businesses on two city blocks. The fire began shortly before 06:30 a.m. in the Brass Monkey Bar, which had just opened a few weeks ago. The fire spread throughout the building and to adjoining businesses on Chapel St. Several businesses on Chapel St. were heavily damaged during the fire. Three alarms were transmitted to bring the fire under control within three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation and may never be known due the extensive damage. The mayor and governor were also on scene.
