FDNY All Hands Brooklyn 1208 Herkimer St. Box 1651
09/08/08 Brooklyn, NY - 1208 Herkimer St. Box 1651 was transmitted around 02:30hrs for a top floor fire. We were about a half mile away arriving first due with the companies and Rescue 2. Upon arrival of Ladder 176 the 10-75 was transmitted for heavy smoke from the top floor of an omd. The 37th Battalion arrived requesting an extra engine and truck and transmitting the all hands for heavy fire on the top floor with extension to the number four side similar attached. Multiple lines were stretched and trucks opened up to bring the fire under control as it spread into the cockloft. Firefighters darkened down the fire and stopped the spread of fire in the exposure as well. The searches proved negative, however one male occupant jumped prior to the fd's arrival from the third floor. He sustained trauma and fractures to both legs. One police officer was injured attempting to remove occupants from the dwelling. The cause of the fire is unknown as the marshals investigate.
