Sikorsky Airport Plane Crash
04/19/98 Stratford, CT - A Cessna aircraft crashed into the parking lot of the airport while trying to to land in heavy rain. The plane crashed nose first into the ground. The pilot, the sole person on board, was killed. The heavy rain and low visibility played a role in the crash. Firefighters from Bridgeport, Stratford and the airport responded. A foam blanket was laid down around the plane due to a large jet fuel spill. The plane landed about a hundred yards from the terminal building. The NTSB and FAA investigated the crash.
