Bridgeport, CT 2nd alarm 746 Railroad Ave dwelling fire
04/10/20 Bridgeport, CT - Firefighters were preparing for shift change when west end companies received a box alarm for a dwelling fire in area of Park and Railroad Avenues. Responding companies could see it as they turned out of quarters. Companies arrived reporting a three story, occupied, private dwelling with fire on all floors of the number 1 side. Battalion one arrived, confirmed the first report and transmitted a second alarm due to the time of day and occupancy as well as the wind condition present. The fire quickly spread and took hold of the dwelling as firefighters fought an interior attack to darken down the fire. Tower ladder 5 was later used to mop up and hydraulically overhaul the dwelling as firefighters took a blow. Several families were left homeless from the fire. No one was hurt.
